My Review:

This was a hard series of novella's to review and I didn't want to give away spoilers.  The plots were really good, even though predictable at times.  Because of the nature of novella's the pace was quick and too the point and I think this helped with the overall build.  The Beast Within was quite action packed and Xavier was hot, although Ian was portrayed to be quite lack luster.  I think this caused problems for me later when Karina is completely in love with Ian and would do anything for him.  I couldn't really feel the connection between them at times and their relationship felt a little forced.  Saying that, the characters were well written and the dialogue between them was good.  I was so happy to discover some of the background surrounding Karina and her new found strength.  These novella's would be great as one book and there needs to be a little work done on the staggered nature of some of the chapters.  I think the characters are now developing well and Karina is finally finding out who she is inside with Ian's help.  Between Lycan's hunting her for her blood and a Goddess trying to protect her by condemning Ian's love for her, it leads to an interesting time for Karina.  Karina is a great character and isn't going to go down without a fight.  This is one of my favourite characteristics of her.  Although her life is changing and she questions who she is, she is one mean ass kicking woman when she needs to be.  I will be eagerly awaiting the next instalment and hope the story gets even better.

Even with some grammatical and spelling errors the story has great potential.  For this reason The Beast Within gets 3.5 stars, the Haunted gets 4 stars, with the Journey getting a well deserved 5 stars.  I give the series as a whole 4 stars.  Melissa your writing is getting so much better...hurry up with the next instalment!
